The sample looked great. Everyone was happy. The product worked, the quality looked good, the details were right.
Then we moved into production. And things started to change.
This is a part of manufacturing that's easy to underestimate. A sample might be made by a small group of experienced people, with extra attention and plenty of time to get the details right.
Mass production is different. There are more people, more materials, more processes, more variation โ and a lot more chances for small things to go wrong.
The challenge isn't making one good product. It's making thousands of products that are the same.
That's why approving a sample isn't the finish line. It's the start of another phase. You have to think about the production process, quality controls, materials, workers, inspections, and what happens when the factory is making hundreds or thousands of units every day.
A great sample proves the product can be made. Production has to prove it can be made consistently. That's where the real work begins.
We build the product. Sourcing, sampling, quality control and production management for founders, creators and ecommerce brands.
